Cody's Law

After the tragic murder of Cody Fisher, I have been working alongside his incredible mother, Tracy Fisher, to introduce ‘Cody’s Law'. This law would require venues to have bleed kits and metal detectors as part of their licensing conditions.

Cody Fisher was a talented young footballer from Stratford. He had a bright future ahead of him but his life was tragically cut short when he was stabbed in a nightclub in Birmingham.

I have raised this issue with the Prime Minister.

I used my first Prime Minister's Question to ask the Prime Minister to meet with Tracy and me to advance this legislation further - please see a clip of my question below.

In Parliament, I regularly speak out on knife crime and press for stronger action to tackle it.

I have repeatedly raised Cody's Law with the Minster for Policing and Crime.

Please see my spoken contributions here and here.

I have also asked the Home Secretary “what steps she is taking to tackle knife crime in late night venues.”

Please see the full question and answer here.

I have met with the Minister for Crime and Policing to press for action against knife crime, and the introduction of Cody's Law.

After continual campaigning, I met the Minister for Crime and Policing alongside senior civil servants from the Home Office, to discuss Cody's Law and action against knife crime.

You can see a letter from the Minister to me following our meeting, here.
